Japanese canned foods aren’t preserved foods. There are canned fruits overseas, but in Japan there are also desserts.
Today I’d like to introduce you to a dessert canned food.
“Anmitsu” means Anko, sweet bean jam and treacle, contains agar-jelly cubes, black soy beans, azuki, and pieces of some fruits.
You can eat them with green tea at Japanese cafe here and there.
This is the most standard Japanese sweets.
La france (ラフランス)
This canned series is a little expensive and offers a unique Japanese fruits. “La France” is from Yamagata prefecture.
What is this fruit?
The name of this pear is “La France”, a crossbreed of Western pear and Japanese one.
Japanese think the word “France” is expensive and tasty, so the pears are named as “La France”.
The texture is like a Western pear as big as Japanese pear. I love it, sweeter and more flavorful than ordinary one.
The most expensive ones are sold $5.00 each!
Their season is spring and fall.
“Mitsumame” means treacle and red soy beans. This is mixture of boiled beans, agar cubes, fruit pieces kind a pineapple, mikan and cherry into syrup.
What is this ？
Although this is written “Mitsumame for breakfast”, we don’t usually eat this one in the morning.
We eat at home or in cafes as a snack like Anmitsu.
It contains agar, some red beans, peaches, tangerines and cherries. It is a Japanese fruit punch, right?
In addition, there are canned mangoes, aloe, and nata de coco. They are also great for dieters!
