Japanese canned foods aren’t just for dishes. There are canned fruits overseas, but in Japan there are also desserts.
Today I’d like to introduce you to a dessert canned food.
“Anmitsu” means sweet bean jam and treacle, contains agar-jelly cubes, black soy beans, azuki, and pieces of some fruits.
Japanese often eats anmitsu with green tea. at Japanese cafe.
This canned series is a little expensive and offers a unique Japanese fruits.
The name of this pear is “La France”, a crossbreed of Western and Japanese pears.
Japanese think the word “France” is expensive and tasty, so the pears are named “LaFrance”, even though France is not related at all.
The texture is like Western pear as big as Japanese pear. I love it, sweeter and more flavorful than ordinary pair.
The most expensive ones are $5.00 each. Their season is spring and fall.
“Mitsumame” means treacle and red soy beans.
But, this canned food is Anmitsu without soy bean jam. It is written Eat fruits in the morning.
So, this food is for breakfast…
There are also tangerines, peaches and mixed fruits, but most of them are made in China. We often eat these frozen or a jelly in a can.
